Time Management: Do’s and Don’ts

October 4th, 2016

Many find it difficult to make the most of the day when they’re at work. One minute, they’re working on a word document, and the next thing they know it’s almost time to go home and they’ve only done half of the things they were supposed to do that day.

The best way to make sure this stops happening is to manage your time. Here are three simple dos and donts on how you could make the most of your day.

DO MAKE A TO DO LIST =/= DO NOT SET UNREALISTIC GOALS

Creating a to do list and placing it somewhere you can often see will help remind you of the things you have to accomplish. Being able to cross those activities out will make you feel better and help you keep to your list. However, do not set an unrealistic list that you know you cannot follow. Be realistic when creating your to do list. Start with things you can do easily.

DO PRIORITIZE =/= DO NOT SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON ONE TASK

Make a list and prioritize what you think is best to do first, second, third, and so on. Whether it’s the most difficult to the easiest or the other way around, you should set what to do and when to do it. Stick to your schedule and you’ll slowly but surely be able to manage your time better.

DO STAY BUSY =/= DO NOT DO EVERYTHING AT ONCE

It is best to schedule everything and stay busy. Include your breaks and your breathers on your schedule as well. You’re more likely to procrastinate when you know you’ve got time to do nothing.

Follow these simple steps and you are sure to improve your time and task management effectively in no time.
