How to Accomplish Your New Year’s Resolutions in 2017

January 4th, 2017

If you are looking for a way to create a new you  in this new year, then you should definitely list your goals down now.

With 2016 behind us, we, as humans who constantly strive to become better, are bound to create promises and resolutions to welcome the New Year- just as we did at the beginning of last year and the year before that and the year before. Somehow, if you are like the many of us, we tend to not stick to these plans and simply leave them as a list of wishful thinking.

But 2017 should be different. 2017 should be the year we actually fulfill that list. And we have to actually do something about it.

  1. CREATE REALISTIC GOALS

Many are guilty of creating high hopes for the new year and half way through you realize they’re just too far to reach; therefore, you should start with small steps that lead towards greater goals.

For example, instead of writing down TRAVEL THE WORLD, you can aim to VISIT A NEW CITY EVERY MONTH. It might not be the world, but at least you’re closer to it than staying in front of the computer staring at high air fare and discouraging yourself. As you accomplish that every year, we’d be travelling the world in no time.

If your goals are a bit more vague (ex BE MORE POSITIVE, EAT HEALTHIER) create steps/plans/to-do lists that would aid you in fulfilling such goals by the end of the year.

2. SET SMALL GOALS IN SHORTER TIME FRAMES

It would be easier for you to stick to your New Year’s Resolution if you set a doable period for every step towards your goals. Achieve some within the first month, then the next in the second and so on; this way you’d be setting closer deadlines and you’d be achieving more within the year.

3. KEEP YOUR GOALS LIST SOMEWHERE YOU COULD SEE DAILY

It is best to be constantly reminded of the things you have to do so you won’t forget them. Seeing the list everyday would encourage you to act on the entries on that list.

4. CROSS OUT WHAT YOU FINISH

Seeing that line over one of your entries feels more like an achievement than it should. You’d feel like you’re one step closer to being a better you. When you look back at it by the end of the year, you’d feel way more fulfilled.

5. BE DETERMINED TO ACHIEVE THE LIST

It doesn’t matter how organized your list is if none of it is being accomplished. Stay true to your list, push yourself to do what you have to do. It will all be worth it once you look back to it on the last day of the year and all of those entries have been crossed out and you’re happier than you were in the previous year.

Follow these simple tips and you’d be on your way to becoming more productive. You won’t be wasting your year ever again.

Good luck and have a great 2017!
