Beating the Monday Blues

November 7th, 2016

Monday might just be the most hated day of the week for people who have to work weekdays. The atmosphere usually feels so dull and boring in the morning because everyone’s still hung up on the weekend. This, however, doesn’t have to be a thing that goes on forever.

Believe it or not, Monday isn’t as bad as we perceive it to be. We’re just so used to treating it negatively that we forget that it’s just another day in the week and doesn’t really deserve all that hate. The problem is that everybody hates it by default. But, really, it doesn’t make you any less of a normal person to be ready for Mondays.

Mentally preparing for Monday actually starts on Friday.

As ridiculous as it sounds, you have to set up the mood on Friday. It’s TGIF but that’s where the issue starts: when you realize that you only have two days of liberation from being tied down to that desk chair by deadlines and superior’s nagging. This is the thought that has to stop. If you hate your job so much, quit; if you can’t quit because you need the cash then at least learn to like it. This will make you hate Mondays a lot less.

Don’t use weekends to catch up on sleep.

Now that you’ve got that Monday-hate out of your system, it’s time to start physically preparing for the day. Stick to a sleep schedule and you’d feel rested enough that you won’t be thinking of constantly sleeping in when you’ve got the day off. You will also be able to get up much better on Monday. In addition to that, your weekend would feel longer because you get more of the days than you usually do since you waste half the day sleeping.

Do what you can finish before Monday

It’s a habit for most office workers to slack off on Fridays. This results to work piling up on Monday and nobody’s ever really excited about that. In order to reduce your worries for Monday, get as much finished on Thursday and Friday; this would also make the weekend feel lighter because you aren’t thinking about how much you HAVE to do once the work days start.

Think positively and love (or at least tolerate) Mondays, it will make you feel more productive and positive!
