5 Brain Food You Should Be Eating

The following are considered super foods for brainy and healthy thinking.

  1. Dark chocolates

The all time favorite, chocolate is widely known for its benefits. However, dark chocolates are healthier and more beneficial to the health. According to studies, dark chocolates – which contain higher cocoa, are found to be better for the health.

  1. Walnuts

Similar with the appearance, walnuts are found to be like the brain. Its appearance is the main reason why it called a brain food. Aside from its appearance, walnuts are really brain food due to its high nutrients. It is rich in vitamin E and contains alpha-linocenic acid – a kind of omega-3 fatty acid which is also good for the brain.  Eating walnut improves and enhances brain activities such as cognitive performance. It also helps reduce the risks of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and Dementia for adults.

  1. Blueberries

According to a study made by at Tuffs University in the U.S, blueberries can help improve memory and delay the onset of short memory loss. It may even increase brainpower during tests and exams. Blueberries are one of the sources that are very rich and high in flavonoids, cancer-fighting antioxidants which can be found in green tea, grapes and cocoa.

  1. Avocado

Like blueberries, avocados help in promoting the brain health. Described as green fruit, avocados are consists of health unsaturated fats, which helps in keeping the cell membrane flexible and contains high monounsaturated fatty acids. As stated in a study published by “Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, they found that these monounsaturated acids help to protect astrocytes – nerve cells which provide support to information-carrying nerves.

  1. Broccoli

Broccoli has a variety of minerals. A 2005 study held at King’s College London in United Kingdom, they presented that broccolis are rich source of glucosinolates. These glucosinolates are healthy compounds found mostly in vegetables which boost antioxidant levels and protect brains from any toxic chemicals endangering the overall well being. It was also found out that having broccolis on meals is one of the many ways to stop cancel cell growth. For more nutrients intact, avoid cooking broccolis for too long.
